Sebastopol

Sebastopol has the kind of charm of a small town where time has stood still. Back in the day, Sebastopol was a plum and apple-growing region. These days, wine grapes and vineyards paint the landscape alongside the orchards.

This small town is a short 20 minute drive from the Pacific Ocean. Sebastopol has a moderate climate, the perfect mild climate for those who enjoy living near the ocean.

The city is home to a number of world-class wineries, top restaurants and cafes. Doran Beach is a great swimming beach and the Russian River is a popular fishing spot. Cycling is encouraged and you can even zip line through the redwoods in Armstrong National Redwood Forest (a short 30 minute drive away). There is a virtually infinite number of outdoor activities to enjoy.

Sebastopol is possibly most famous for nearby Bodega Bay, the location of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds.

The city is also home of The Barlow, which brings together farmers, wine makers and artisans, creating a space where local delights can be enjoyed by everyone. You can buy local art straight from the artist’s hand and enjoy fresh farm-to-table cuisine from local producers and farmers. The Street Fair is on every Thursday, with food trucks and music that really bring the community together and highlight the best of the wine country lifestyle.

Living in Sebastopol also means taking pride in the Gravenstein apple, grown here, and taking part in the apple blossom parade every year.

The Sebastopol area is famous for its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes and, home to the Russian River Valley Appellation, produces award-winning wines every year.
